3 DAYS TO THE MERZOUGA DESERT: FROM MARRAKECH

Enjoy a 3-day tour from Marrakech or Fes, journeying across the Atlas Mountains to explore the breathtaking Red Dunes of the Sahara Desert: an unforgettable adventure awaits!
Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley ( 348 km )
Meet your driver at your hotel at 8:00 a.m. and board the 4×4 for your journey from Marrakech to the Dades Valley, crossing the Tizi N’Tichka pass (2,260 meters) in the High Atlas Mountains. The scenic drive from Marrakech to Ouarzazate offers stunning landscapes, vibrant colors, and charming Berber villages along the route. We will have some free time to explore the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and enjoy lunch. Afterward, we will continue southeast to the lush Dades Valley and the Rose City, passing through the beautiful Skoura palm grove. The overnight in the Dades Valley.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga ( 265 km ).
After breakfast, we will embark on the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, driving through the vibrant Berber villages of the Dades Valley. About 45 kilometers later, we will reach Tineghir, known for its beautiful palm grove and Jewish quarter. Our journey will continue to the Todra Gorges, where you’ll have free time to trek along the impressive canyons that rise about 300 meters high, a popular spot for rock climbers. Afterward, we will head to the Erg Chebbi dunes in the Merzouga Sahara Desert, with a stop for lunch along the way before arriving in Erfoud. We’ll then proceed to the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Once we reach the bivouac, we take a camel ride to watch the sunset from the top of the dunes. After returning to the bivouac, we’ll enjoy dinner and spend an unforgettable night in tents in the desert.
Day 3: Merzouga - Rissani - Alnif - Valle del Draa - Marrakech (km 550)
Our camels will take us back to Merzouga, and from there, we’ll continue our journey through the Draa Valley, stopping to explore the sights in Rissani. The Moroccan architecture, including palaces, gateways, and temples, provides plenty of great photo opportunities.
On the final leg of our tour, we will pass through Nqob and Tamnougalt before returning to the familiar city of Ouarzazate. You can enjoy lunch at one of the local cafés before we make our way back through the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech, where our journey will come to an end. We expect to arrive in Marrakech around 8:00 p.m.
